#footballcan We do not know what the football of the future will be like, but we do know how we want it to be At Santander and GSIC by Microsoft we want to help to transform the sport with the most impact in the world: football. For this reason, we launched an innovation challenge in which we will be looking for technological initiatives that can help us make football better for everyone. PARTICIPATE

FootballCan 2041

2041 is a look into the future, imagining how we want and believe that sport should be 20 years from now. For this reason, we look for real solutions that will help us build a more fair, accessible football that is committed to the environment. Will you join the challenge?

Challenges

Improve Fieeld development

Impulse the first touch system that allows millions of blind people to experience football like never before.

Create technological solutions with a focus on Diversity, Inclusion and Sustainability

Achieve a real and tangible impact through football to improve the lives of people and society, in any of our categories.

We believe that football is a very powerful tool of social transformation, that is why in 2019 we created Fieeld. A device that promotes inclusion and improves accessibility, because it allows all the blind to experience football as they have never done before.

The first tactile system for delayed sports broadcasting.

Fieeld is a device with which you can follow the movements of the ball and the trajectory of the play (previously loaded) using the fingertips.

Its design is created to be able to comfortably follow the game with both hands released. In the upper part, there’s a mesh that represents the field with the engraved lines, strong relief and a pointer, capable of moving throughout the field, indicating the position of the ball.

A technology that transfers the position of the ball to your hands.

Thanks to a high-definition camera system that covers the entire soccer field and extracts information in the two axes: width and length of the field, to record the coordinates of the ball you can know whete is it at each moment.

The data provided by continuous ball tracking is transmitted to the device, which features a 2D tracking system to pinpoint the exact position of the ball on the Fieeld pitch.

A device created for perfect ball tracking.

The choice of each component of Fieeld is the result of a test with a group of blind people of different degrees, with different ability and sensitivity in their fingers.

The mesh is the perfect combination of elasticity, softness, slip and resistance to create a material that guarantees an optimal tracking experience. The boundaries of the pitch are engraved with an ink that provides a strong relief that can be recognized by the touch. Also, there is the pointer inside the device that represents the ball and has the perfect size and relief to facilitate location and tracking when the ball is in motion.

Inclusion

We believe that the way to improve football even more, is that everyone can enjoy it, making this sport more fair and accessible, paying special attention to people with disabilities, providing responsible solutions in terms of accessibility, and education related to football. Help us so that vulnerable groups at risk of social, economic or cultural exclusion can do so.

Diversity

Race, gender, sexual orientation, religion or nationality should not matter when we talk about the greatest sport in the world. Help us create solutions that integrate and promote equality and equity through football.

Sustainability

Football is in our lives. Help us to create solutions to make football more responsible with our environment, with climate change and a sustainable management of energy and resources.

Recognition

10.000€

to the best project in each category.

If any of the selected projects can also apply its technology to improve Fieeld’s capabilities, they will receive an extra 5.000 € as recognition.
